The Three Verdicts

SUPPORTED

The grounding source directly supports the claim. The evidence contains information that confirms the claim's assertion.

UNSUPPORTED

The grounding source contradicts or explicitly refutes the claim. The evidence contains information that conflicts with the claim.

UNCERTAIN

The grounding source is insufficient, ambiguous, or does not address the claim. The evidence neither supports nor refutes the claim.

Confidence Score

The confidence field (0.0–1.0) reflects the model's internal assessed certainty given the provided evidence.

Range Interpretation
0.9–1.0 Very high certainty — clear, direct evidence
0.7–0.89 High certainty — strong evidence, minor ambiguity
0.5–0.69 Moderate certainty — some evidence gaps or ambiguity
0.3–0.49 Low certainty — weak or indirect evidence
0.0–0.29 Very low certainty — minimal relevant evidence

Important: Confidence is not a calibrated statistical probability. It is the model's self-assessed certainty. Do not treat it as a formal p-value or statistical guarantee.
